
The Duke Hematology-Oncology Fellowship program provides clinical, translational, and basic laboratory training in hematology, medical oncology, cell therapy and bone marrow transplantation. Program resources include more than 100 full-time faculty in the Divisions of Medical Oncology, Hematological Malignancies and Cellular Therapy, and Hematology. The Fellowship has an average of 21 fellows in different stages of training.
Mission:
- Train future leaders in the fields of hematology and medical oncology
- Provide outstanding clinical training in all areas of hematology and medical oncology while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures of the ACGME and ABIM; and
- Instill lifelong passions for patient care and a vigorous pursuit of new knowledge through basic, translational and clinical research.
- Duke Cancer Institute treats more than 6,000 new cancer patients each year and is consistently recognized as the top cancer hospital in the southeast. Duke University Health System opened ia new state-of-the-art Cancer Center in 2012 and is moving forward with construction on Duke Medicine Pavillion, which will be completed in 2013.
- Outstanding opportunities for multidisciplinary bench to bedside research can be found within the Duke Center for Genomic and Computational Biology, the Duke Cancer Care Research Program, the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute, the Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute, the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development, the Duke Sickle Cell Center and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center and the Duke Forge for machine learning in health science data.
