The Postdoctoral Training Program in Pulmonary Medicine Research at Duke University is known as Pulmonary ReSearch to Promote, Engage and Retain Academic Researchers (PROSPER).
The program is designed to train a new generation of postdoctoral MD and PhD scientists to become future leaders in the basic, translational and clinical research, clinical trials and health service research of major lung diseases.
This NHLBI-funded T32 grant provides specific educational and training opportunities, protected research time and support for research and career development activities for fellows.
All fellows in our program engage in scholarly activity and receive robust mentorship from our outstanding faculty.
OPPORTUNITIES / TRAINING
- Multiple tracks, including basic, translational and clinical research pathways
- Establish a Mentor, Advisor, Coach, Sponsor (MACS) Committee to create a structured group to support research and career development activities
- Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training
- Grant / Manuscript writing
- Experimental design, research methods and Data analysis
- Opportunities for coursework through the Duke Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP) or the Duke Scholars in Molecular Medicine program (DSMM).
- Scientific presentations at national and international meeting.
- Application for external Department of Defense, NIH, Veterans Administration (VA), or foundation career development awards
