Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program that would encourage me to develop into a great clinician with the ability to think about problems at the individual patient level and the systems level. I was also looking for a strong sense of community - within the residents and the faculty.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Duke is an incredibly supportive and welcoming program - from the program leadership to the faculty to all of the current residents. Everyone is truly invested in helping each resident explore their own interests and develop along their own career path.

Tell us about your co-interns. How long did it take to connect?
Within hours! Everyone was instantly welcoming and supportive of each other. There is a true sense of community among our intern class.

About Duke University and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
It is so easy to live here and Durham is a welcoming community. The food is amazing and there is something for everyone to do - Durham Bulls baseball games, shows at the DPAC, the farmers market on the weekend, and so much more!

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Read, go for hikes along the Eno River or in Umstead Park, and explore all of the various restaurants in Durham.
