About the Program

What are the strengths of the Duke Geriatrics Fellowship Program?
The focus on education and mentorship has been fantastic here at Duke. More than an open-door policy, the faculty actively support the fellows in their interests.

The breadth of training environments is also a great aspect of this program. We get experience working at the main university hospital, the VA, skill nursing facilities, and many other outpatient settings. There is a month of experience in hospice and palliative care as well.

Furthermore, throughout the year there are also a variety of educational curricula that the fellows engage in. A favorite of mine was the course in clinical teaching. I also really enjoyed working on a QI project focused on deprescribing during my first year.
