Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
A program with equal emphasis on both primary care and subspecialty careers, a diverse patient population, opportunities for global health, and fun co-residents!

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Great reputation with a strong med-peds identity. Co-residents who are extremely motivated yet down-to-earth and easy to hang out with.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
The faculty members who I have worked with have been intelligent, supportive, and very easy to approach. They encourage residents to make their own decisions and are always willing to teach. Having such supportive faculty has definitely made the transition to residency easier!

About Duke University and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham has the convenience of living in a smaller town and an AWESOME cost of living (compared to L.A.) but also has enough restaurants, bars, and things to do to keep me interested.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Travel, try new restaurants, hang out with my family and friends, cook, road-trip, and a lot of Netflix!
