Where did you attend college/university?
Brown University

Where did you attend medical school?
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

What are your career goals?
I am interested in Academic Cardiology, and cardiovascular clinical research.

What did you do the summer before internship?
I spent one week in Belgium with my older brother, and my Mom, who taught us both how to drive stick shift, and I also traveled to Italy with my fiancé, who is an Orthopedics Resident at Duke. It was a blast!

Besides the clinical breadth that comes from being a national referral center, the true strength of the Duke program is the people.

Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
While I wanted to train at a top academic research-focused institution, like most applicants, I was also looking for a program where I really connected with the residents and the leadership.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Besides the clinical breadth that comes from being a national referral center, the true strength of the Duke program is the people. From our leadership, to my co-residents/interns, the people here are some of the most intelligent, ambitious, humble, and kind doctors I have met.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
Thus far, the faculty/house staff relationships have been wonderful. My attendings have all emphasized teaching on the wards, and have made a real effort to get to know me.

Tell us about your co-interns. How long did it take to connect?
My co-interns are fantastic! On the wards, they have been an amazing source of knowledge and support. On the weekends, whether it’s hiking, barbecuing, or going out, they have made intern year a ton of fun.

About Duke University and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Moving to Durham from New York City, I have really enjoyed the accessibility of Downtown Durham, and it’s proximity to nature. Durham has more restaurants and things to do than you could ever need to and it’s all affordable for residents. 15 minutes away there are beautiful hiking trails and lakes, and in just 2 hours you are at the ocean.

Where did you choose to live, and why?
I chose to live on 9th street because of all the restaurants in walking distance, and the close proximity to the hospital.

Parting thoughts?
This is a great program to train in, and a great place to live. Come join us!
