Duke has amazingly intelligent people who are also nice, helpful and fun. It truly is a family environment. The learning is phenomenal and residents are incredibly prepared by the end of training.

Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a place that felt like home and had warm inviting people who like to have fun, but work hard.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Duke has amazingly intelligent people who are also nice, helpful and fun. It truly is a family environment. The learning is phenomenal and residents are incredibly prepared by the end of training.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
Cordial and not very formal. All of my attendings have been wonderful thus far.

Tell us about your co-interns. How long did it take to connect?
Surprisingly not long at all! I was worried about moving to Durham with no connections and no one from my medical school coming to Duke, but my co-interns are truly great and a lot of fun.
