Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program that would provide strong clinical training so residents are prepared to take care of any patient. Given my interests in research, health care management and global health, I was also seeking a program with the resources and mentors to support residents' career development in these areas.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The people, the leadership, and the abundant resources available to support any career in medicine.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
I have had great relationships with my attendings here both as a student and resident. They have been incredibly supportive in helping me learn through feedback and encouragement.

Tell us about your co-interns. How long did it take to connect?
We actually got to know each other before residency even started through many informal social gatherings. It's been great going through residency with hard working colleagues with great attitudes.
