Where did you attend college/university?
University of Wisconsin, Madison

Where did you attend medical school?
Duke University

What are your career goals?
To provide mental health and medical primary care to people who are homeless or lack access to care for other social reasons.

The faculty really take an interest in residents, both in who we are as people and who we want to become as doctors.

Reflections on the Duke program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a combined med-psych program with strong academics that would prepare me to be the best doctor I could be, a program with plenty of dual-certified faculty who could provide mentorship within a combined program, and a program full of people who truly care about patients and are genuinely kind human beings. I found all of those things at Duke.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?
I get to work with incredibly smart and talented co-residents and learn from attendings who are experts in their field every day in the wards and in clinic. At the same time, everyone is really warm and humble and it's easy to feel welcomed in the program.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
The faculty really take an interest in residents, both in who we are as people and who we want to become as doctors.

About Duke University and Durham

What's best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I love the trails and the forests around Durham, the weather, and the great food! I love the Duke Lemur Center, Eno Park, too many good restaurants to name, and quick weekend trips to the beach, the mountains, Old Salem, and other cool NC sights.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Cook, sing in the choir, go out to dinner, read.
