Reflections on the Duke Program

What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a residency program that first and foremost would provide me with strong clinical training and exposure to a diverse patient population to challenge my clinical abilities. I also was interested in finding a program with vast research opportunities for residents and a collegial, supportive environment.

What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
Definitely the people. Even as a medical student at Duke, it was clear how supportive the program was of its residents, and the residents were of each other.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
The faculty are very approachable and as a resident, it is easy to find both clinical and research mentors. The attendings on the teaching services are wonderful educators.
