What are your career goals?

After fellowship, I will be joining a large private practice in Southwest to complete a 3-year visa requirement of serving an underserved population. My goal is to focus on home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, and that’s why I will spend my 2nd year of fellowship pursuing Home Modalities Concentration.

What has surprised you most about Duke?

The extent of support you get from faculty! Any of the requests and suggestions are taken with so much of attention. Program leadership truly is invested in providing the fellows the best experience possible during these 2 years, tailoring the curriculum to the fellows’ future plans, bringing in contact with people to network, be it within or outside of Duke; assisting with the job search, and most importantly, just really caring about fellows' well-being.

What are the strength of the Duke program?

Needless to say, this is a major academic institution, that provides rigorous training, a wide exposure to wide range of kidney pathology, from “bread and butter” nephrology to very rare pathology. But again, the biggest strength, is the supportive faculty, who make even the busiest days, much lighter.

What were you looking for in a fellowship program?

Excellent clinical training, exposure to a wide variety of kidney diseases, strong mentorship and supportive environment were among the most important criteria in choosing this program.

What have you liked about living in Durham/RTP?

Having started fellowship in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I realized that the major perk of this area, is it’s beautiful nature and warm weather. So many parks and trails to explore right here in Durham and Raleigh. Now, with the pandemic slowing down, a lot of restaurants are opening up in downtown area, and it’s getting pretty busy!

What are your hobbies?

spending time outside, cooking
