Career and Research Goals
I am interested in a combination of community and academic medicine. I initially came into medicine wanting to practice outpatient primary care, however I am discovering and exploring new interests through the program, including long term care and consulting on geriatric syndromes. My interests include cognitive impairment, primary care for the elderly, women's health, and quality improvement.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
I was excited about coming to Duke because of the friendly and motivated faculty and fellows I met during my interview. I felt I would be well-supported in my goals here and would have a wealth of mentors in the field. I appreciated the strength of the thoughtful curriculum as well as the educational experiences. I wanted a program that maintained my skills from residency but also created new opportunities for learning. Some of these include working at the VA, the geriatrics consults service, and the interdisciplinary POSH program. I'm grateful to have ended up in a supportive, creative, and encouraging environment!
