Tuesday, June 3, 2014

The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology invites applications for a TENURE-TRACK faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the Department of Medicine. An MD or MD/PhD degree is desired, but PhD applicants will be considered provided they have a strong research background in the immune mechanisms of rheumatologic disease. This position is part of the School of Medicine's Partnership Hires Recruiting Initiative.

Outstanding scientists working in the areas of immunology and inflammation are urged to apply. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with a strong background in translational research and rheumatologic disease. Areas of research may include: 1) regulation of lymphocyte function; 2) innate immunity; 3) genetic regulation of the immune response; and 4) immune profiling and biomarker discovery. Duke University Medical Center provides a collegial and interactive academic environment featuring numerous opportunities for research collaboration with accomplished scientists from the Department of Immunology and the Human Vaccine Institute, as well as investigators from the Divisions of Rheumatology and Immunology and Pulmonary Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, and other divisions in the Department of Medicine and other clinical departments. Opportunities also exist for collaboration with pharmaceutical and biotech scientists in nearby Research Triangle Park. The university is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, which has many beautiful places to live and diverse cultural and recreational choices.

Academic rank, competitive salary, and a generous start-up package will be offered to successful applicants commensurate with their qualifications and experience. Interested candidates should send electronically their curriculum vitae, a statement of their research interests, and three letters of reference to:
