Congratulations to Dr. Fuad Bohsali on his promotion to Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, effective June 1, 2021.
Dr. Bohsali came to Duke in January of 2018 and has served a number of critical roles as a faculty member at Duke that integrate his clinical, research and academic interests. He has served on the Hip Fracture Care Redesign Committee as the physician representative from Hospital Medicine. He is currently serving in a working group with members of the Orthopedic Surgery team and Palliative Care team to design a workflow for goals of care conversations around the time of acute hip fracture. He has also served in an advisory role on the Hospital Medicine consultation service. For Dr. Bohsali’s clinical duties, he works on the general medicine service, and on the consultation service alongside APPs and mentors them in providing clinically excellent medical care.
Dr. Bohsali has contributed to research in the peri-operative space. His research interests include risk stratification and medical optimization prior to noncardiac surgery. He has participated in research on the effects of HMG-CoA inhibitors and was published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, and led research on the effect of heart failure in acute hip fracture, culminating in a first authorship in the Journal of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgery.
