From the Director

Hi everyone!
We are really flying through the first few weeks of the year. So glad our @heytacoapp introduction went so well - we even got retweeted by @heytacoapp! Keep sending those tacos and also kudos to Elizabeth McCamic and me. We love hearing about all the good work you do.

Please see "From the Residency Office" tab below for details on an event for trainees by the Program for Women in Internal Medicine. "Before They Were Stars" is a series that highlights the personal and professional narratives from some of our stellar Department of Medicine faculty. The first session will be on Zoom from 7:15-8 p.m. on Wed., July 22. Learn more and see registration link below.

Kudos
Kudos this week go to Jon Reichstein and Tareq Aljurf for two awesome Chairs Conferences this past week. Also kudos to Ahmad Mourad from Jeff Lee for being a great Duke GM SAR. I will send kudos to my team as well - Micah Schub, Kristin Corey,  medical students Thao Nguyen and Parth Chodovadia and our night JARs Felicia Cao and Joyce Hwang. Awesome work all week!

PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Chelsea Perfect for her recent publication in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, "Geriatrics Scholarly Concentration Programs Among U.S. Medical Schools."

Have a great week!
Aimee

Clinic Corner: Pickett Road

Contributed by Jeff Clough

The staff and providers at Pickett Road have been excited to meet our 8 new interns! Many have been in clinic regularly the first two weeks of the year and are doing a fantastic job. A special thanks to James Helzberg and Neha Kayastha, who have been particularly helpful getting everybody up to speed.

Feeling down? Need to talk to someone? Opportunities for Wellness
All trainees at Duke have FREE access to Personal Assistance Services (PAS), which is the faculty/employee assistance program of Duke University. The staff of licensed professionals offer confidential assessment, short-term counseling, and referrals to help resolve a range of personal, work, and family problems. PAS services are available free of charge to Duke faculty and staff, and their immediate family members. An appointment to meet with a PAS counselor may be arranged by calling the PAS office at 919-416-1PAS (919-416-1727), Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. For assistance after hours, residents and fellows can call the Blood and Body Fluid Hotline (115 inside DUH, 919-684-1115 outside) for referral to behavioral health resources. Another resource is Duke Outpatient Psychiatry Referrals at (919) 684-0100 or 1-888-ASK-DUKE. https://www.hr.duke.edu/pas/
