DGIM Professor of Medicine, John Williams, MD, just returned from an exciting trip to China. While there, he and two Duke Biostatistics Faculty taught a clinical research methods course for local physicians at Beijing Friendship Hospital, a hospital built in the 1950’s by the Soviet Union.
"I never thought I’d be teaching Chinese physicians in a hospital built by the Soviet Union," said Williams.
The course was innovative, and consisted of 3 components:
- an online “e-learning” component with translations into Mandarin
- an interactive live webinar series
- an on-site 1 week intensive
"The course went exceptionally well," says Williams. "The students were highly engaged, not wanting to take breaks or even go home at the end of the day."
