Duke O'Brien Center for Kidney Research hosts first annual symposium

Today the Duke O'Brien Center for Kidney Research hosts its first annual symposium, that kicks off with a Medicine Grand Rounds lecture by Jonathan Himmelfarb, MD, the Joseph W. Eschbach Endowed Chair in Kidney Research and Director of the Kidney Research Institute at the University of Washington. Below Thomas Coffman, MD, director of the Duke O'Brien Center for Kidney Research and chief of the Division of Nephrology, describes the mission, scope and projects of the new center, which is funded by a five-year grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
