Applications are now being accepted for the fifth annual School of Medicine LEADER program. Leadership Development for Researchers (LEADER) will be held Feb. 11-13, 2014 at the R. David Thomas Executive Conference Center. This three-day interactive learning program is designed to equip junior faculty researchers with the professional competencies to effectively lead successful scientific research enterprises. Program highlights: LEADER provides insight into leadership and team building and helps faculty develop skills in effective communication, career navigation and conflict management. Participants will develop action plans to hone their own leadership skills and harness the creativity and innovation of their team members. Application details: Applications are available online and are due by Sept.23. A letter of support from each applicant's department chair or supervisor is a required part of the application. Up to 40 junior faculty will be selected to participate. The most competitive applicants will be faculty who are responsible for leading a research team, and have made a commitment to research as the principal focus of their career. All participants will be required to attend the full three days of the course. Cost: Program fees for faculty with a primary appointment in the School of Medicine are covered by the Dean’s office.
