4 in GIM promoted to Assistant Professor

Congratulations to four General Internal Medicine (GIM) faculty who received promotions to Assistant Professor, effective May 1, 2023. 

Justin Allen, MD - Hospital Medicine
Dr. Allen joined our division in 2021. He is a hospitalist at Duke Raleigh Hospital (DRH) and has participated in a variety of clinical leadership projects in the areas of admission optimization, pneumonia, COPD, and hip fracture admissions, and rapid response/code blues.

John Ike, MD - Hospital Medicine 
Dr. Ike joined our faculty in 2022 and has already grown into multiple roles as a faculty member at Duke that integrate his unique talents in clinical medicine and the health humanities. For his clinical duties, he is a hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

Rebecca Lumsden, MD - Hospital Medicine
Dr. Lumsden became a faculty member in GIM in 2020 and has taught numerous students and residents during their Internal Medicine inpatient rotations. She is part of the leadership team of the Hubert Yeargan Center for Global Health as the Director of Education, where she leads the curriculum development and mentorship for clinical trainees doing global health rotations.

Neha Mehta, MD - Hospital Medicine
Dr. Mehta joined Duke GIM in 2008. She is an academic hospitalist at Duke Regional Hospital. She frequently participates in resident report at DRH along with teaching medical and PA students. She has taken an interest in physician wellness and burnout and completed the Duke Wellbeing Ambassador Program along with participating in the National Brave Enough Leadership Conference to learn and help highlight areas of wellness and burnout amongst physicians.
