The Culture, Engagement, and Community (CEC) Program embraces every member of our community, and each member of our faculty, staff, and trainees are afforded every opportunity to be successful.
We achieve this goal working with our division leaders and vice chairs examining work across our missions: education, clinical care, and research. The CEC is developing concrete short-term and long-term goals through work committees, focusing on developing targets that are actionable and measurable
Vice Chiefs for Community, Engagement, and Community
The Vice Chiefs for Community, Engagement, and Community (VCCEC) will partner with the division chief and the CEC committee to create an infrastructure to support a culture of respect, civility, and equity within each division. Each VCCEC will serve as a member of the CEC committee, act as a liaison between CEC Committee and their respective divisions, and contribute to a CEC agenda focused on culture, recruitment, retention, education, and training within their division.
Programs
We have initiatives that support a culture of civility and equity across the Department of Medicine through activities, programming, and support:
The Department of Medicine is aligned with the efforts across the Duke University School of Medicine and Duke University Health System. Learn more about the School of Medicine's Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (SoM EDI), and see various relevant learning opportunities.
