Duke Interprofessional Education (IPE) Clinic Seeking Clinic Preceptors

The School of Medicine is seeking clinical faculty to serve as Interprofessional Education Clinic Preceptors for the upcoming academic year. Along with other interprofessional faculty, clinic preceptors will be responsible for seeing patients with ambulatory care complaints, such as might be seen in an outpatient clinic or in urgent care. In addition, preceptors are responsible for leading a team of interprofessional students, including students from the MD, Physician Assistant, School of Nursing ‘s Master of Science and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Physical Therapy programs.

The clinic emphasizes excellent clinical care with a focus on bedside teaching as well as interprofessional teamwork and collaborative practice. Faculty spend a portion of each session debriefing the experience and providing directly observed feedback. Faculty will be expected to complete an evaluation at the end of each session.

Operating hours for the clinic are from 5:15 to 9:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Sign up for clinic sessions are done monthly with expectation of working a minimum of 6 to 8 sessions during an academic year. Faculty will be expected to participate in 1 to 2 faculty development sessions. Faculty will also be compensated for the number of clinic sessions precepted from the School of Medicine to the faculty member’s department.
