Michael Dore, MD, joined Duke GIM faculty in July 2022 and is a hospitalist at the Durham VA Medical Center. Learn more about him in our interview below.
What brought you to Duke?
I grew up in Durham. I loved it here before it was cool.
What are your interests in the field?
High-value care, penicillin allergy delabeling
How did you get into this specific field?
Healthcare costs are rising at an unsustainable rate. Controlling costs while improving health outcomes is a win-win.
Is there any research you are doing?
I am currently doing some research on primary care penicillin allergy delabeling via direct oral amoxicillin challenges.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoying skiing, running, and all things Harry Potter

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am a Tar Heel fan despite growing up in Durham.
