GIM Welcomes 9 New Members

We are proud to announce 9 faculty and staff members that have recently joined the Division of General Internal Medicine:

NEW FACULTY MEMBERS: 

Ashley Allen, MD, comes to us from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Clinical Instructor and Advanced Fellow in Hospice & Palliative Medicine. She joins our division as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke Health Hospitals.

Alexandra Horne, MD, comes from Johns Hopkins Osler Training Program. She joins our division as a Hospitalist at the Durham VA Medical Center.

Christopher Leo, MD, joins our division as a hospitalist at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Diego Cepeda Mora, MD, comes to us from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He joins our division as a Hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

Derek Pinkerton, MD, joins us from Indiana University School of Medicine where he was an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine. He joins our division as a Hospitalist at Duke University Hospital. 

NEW STAFF MEMBERS: 

Atoosa Heidari Bigvand, BDS (DDS), MAS, is a Clinical Research Coordinator, involved in the screening, recruitment, data entry, patient follow-ups, and assisting the development of the research data from clinical trials and lab investigations.

Elnaz Rezaei Ghalechi is a Clinical Research Coordinator, assisting investigators with conducting literature reviews and preparing proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for research studies.

Chris Pede is a Clinical Research Coordinator on Dr. Nia Mitchell’s Healthy Me and Dr. Nicole Depasquale’s Shared Kidney Care research projects. He is involved in the recruitment, IRB/OnCore and overseeing all regulatory requirements for the projects.

Jessica Pennell is a Regulatory Coordinator in DGIM. She supports inpatient and outpatient clinical trials from the Hospital Medicine Pod by performing study specific regulatory and safety reporting across multiple studies.
