Apply for the Duke course on Leadership Development for Researchers

Applications are now being accepted for the 7th annual School of Medicine LEADER program! Leadership Development for Researchers (LEADER) will be held April 19-21, 2016 at the Cotton Room in downtown Durham. This 3-day interactive learning program is designed to equip junior faculty researchers with the professional competencies to effectively lead successful scientific research enterprises.

Program highlights: LEADER provides insight into leadership and team building and helps faculty develop skills in conflict management, effective communication, and career navigation. Participants will develop action plans to hone their personal leadership skills and harness the creativity and innovation of their team members.

Application details: Applications are available online and are due Dec. 4. A letter of support from each applicant's department chair or supervisor is a required part of the application. Up to 40 junior faculty will be selected to participate. The most competitive applicants will be faculty who are responsible for leading a research team, and who have made a commitment to research as the principal focus of their career. All participants will be required to attend the full three days of the course.

Cost: Program fees for faculty with a primary appointment in the School of Medicine are covered by the Dean’s Office.
