Remember the Schwartz Center Rounds? This unique type of medical rounds started at Duke over 5 years ago. The forum gives healthcare providers an opportunity to discuss social and emotional issues, ones they face daily in caring for patients and families. In this conference setting they share those experiences, thoughts and feelings on topics with colleagues from other healthcare disciplines. Schwartz Center Rounds still take place, but with a new identity and new name of “Compassionate Care Conference (C3)”.
As before, DGIM faculty members, Drs. Lynn Bowlby and Nathan Gray, continue to be the conference leaders.

Why the name change?
The Schwartz Panel embarked on this name change and new independence in order to gain flexibility and freedom to adapt to our local needs as a health system. They are looking to increase their efforts in order to feature various disciplines within the health system and to highlight ways everyone can support each other, even under difficult circumstances.
"We will continue holding this Compassionate Care Conference quarterly, and hope that it will maintain its role as a truly unique forum here at Duke," says Gray. "We preserve our mission of promoting compassion, resilience, and support in the Duke Health Family, and appreciate your ongoing participation toward this goal."
