Duke University is marking the 50th anniversary of the first black undergraduates with a campus-wide, nine-month commemoration: Celebrating the Past, Charting the Future: Commemorating 50 Years of Black Students at Duke.
The university plans to host a range of events and compile a rich archive of feature articles, photos and other visual material to help tell the story of the black experience at Duke.
The Duke community is invited to the official kickoff reception on Fri., Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Nasher Museum of Art. Duke and Durham leaders will speak about and preview nine months of signature events that will mark the contributions of black students at Duke. The reception is free and open to the public.
