The Durham Regional Hospital Congestive Heart Failure Readmission Team received the top poster/abstract prize at the 6th annual Duke Patient Safety and Quality Conference held Dec. 10, 2010.
The multidisciplinary team, which included physician, nursing, and performance improvement members, was headed by Marilyn Wightman (DRH Performance Improvement) with our own hospital medicine faculty, David Boyte, MD, assistant profess of medicine (Hospitalists) and Lalit Verma, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Hospitalists) as key physician leaders on the team.
The inaugural Rebecca Kirkland Award was presented to the team by Victor Dzau, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology) and chancellor for health affairs. It recognized the team's multidisciplinary efforts on a complex problem using classic quality improvement methodologies.
Congratulations to Drs Boyte and Verma as well as the entire team for working on this important topic and being recognized with this prestigious award.
