Eapen to serve as director of education IT innovations

Zubin Eapen, MDMary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, today announced that Zubin Eapen, MD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology, has agreed to serve as director of education IT innovations for the Department of Medicine. "In this time of change and challenge across the health system, and health care in general, IT innovations are increasingly important to the efficiency and reach of our research, education and patient care," Dr. Klotman said. "Zubin’s energy, leadership skills and technology expertise will allow him to be an advocate and forward-looking leader for the Department’s continuing medical education portfolio, greatly enhancing our ability to improve the access and reach of the department’s many CME activities." Dr. Eapen is a graduate of UNC-CH. After college, he worked at the World Bank. He then earned his M.D. at Duke, and completed his residency and fellowship training in cardiology here – during which he was instrumental in the success of the Duke Cardiology Fellows Blog. He also served as Chief Fellow of both the Duke Clinical Research Institute Fellowship Program and Duke Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program.
