The Duke Center for REsearch to AdvanCe Healthcare Equity (REACH Equity) is seeking applications for an internal mentored research career development award (CDA) for Duke University junior faculty. Applications are due February 15, 2019. Funding will start July 2019.
The REACH Equity theme is addressing racial and ethnic disparities in health by developing and testing interventions that improve the quality of patient-centered care in the clinical encounter – a setting in which racial and ethnic disparities are well-documented.
In this call for applications, we have expanded the type and scope of projects eligible for funding.
In prior cycles, we required proposals that develop and (pilot-) test interventions to improve minority health or reduce racial and ethnic disparities in patient-centered care in the clinical setting. While projects must still focus on improving the quality of care in the clinical setting, we recognize that the development and testing of an intervention may be beyond the readiness of the science or applicant and/or beyond the scope of the proposed research. Therefore, proposals may employ any research method to address a question relevant to enhancing minority health or reducing racial/ethnic disparities by improving the quality of patient-centered care in the clinical encounter.
The REACH Equity CDA provides up to $75,000 direct costs per year for two years. Applicants are expected to use the award to protect at least 50% of TPE. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with the IDC Director (Laura Svetkey) and REACH Equity Director (Kimberly Johnson) to get input on aligning their proposal with the REACH Equity theme.
