Jennifer Gierisch, PhD, MPH, was a co-author of a major new systematic review and meta-analysis examining associations between smoking and acute pancreatitis. The analysis of more than 12 studies found that, compared to non-smokers, smokers have more than a 50% increased risk for both acute pancreatitis (AP) and recurrent AP (RAP).
