GIM Educator Café - Building a Path as an Educator

It was great to see so many last week, October 19, 2020, for another DGIM Educator Café.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Diana McNeill, led an exceptionally engaging and interactive session on building a path as an educator. Diana is an Endocrinologist, clinician-educator and Director of Duke AHEAD, a program that's dedicated to promoting excellence in education.

Dr. McNeill leveraged a particular adult learning tactic – slides with photographs and no words – prompting responses from us to convey our perspectives as educators and what sorts of support are needed as educators. Towards the promotion path, she especially encouraged us to keep a record of our scholarship.

Future Meetings

There will be more Educator Café sessions, hopefully with real food someday, where we will touch on other topics from our list of priorities: teaching skills development, curriculum development, academic products incubator, promotions and tenure, and career planning and longevity for educators.
