GIM at ISPOR Annual Meeting

Elected last year, Shelby Reed. PhD, Professor of Medicine (GIM), is taking the reigns in July as President of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).

Dr. Reed addressed a large crowd of attendees gathered for the 22nd ISPOR annual international meeting held May 20-24, 2017 in Boston. The conference theme was "Evidence and Value in a Time of Social and Policy Change". The presentations and discussions delved into contentious policy and coverage issues that are central to health care today; ranging from issues of value assessment, efficiency and affordability to societal values, equity concerns and consideration of patient preferences.

"I have been a longtime member of ISPOR, and there's never been a better time to be part of the Society," said Dr. Shelby Reed, in her incoming presidential address.

She is excited to begin her new position as Society President. "I have the good fortune to work to advance scientific initiatives, partnerships with other professional organizations, patient groups, biomedical manufacturers and private and public payers to improve health outcomes and efficiency in health care," she said.
