GIM welcomes 10 new hospitalists

Welcome the newest members of Duke General Internal Medicine!

Jacqueline Bolwell, MD

Dr. Bolwell is transitioning from her Duke internal medicine residency to her clinical position as a hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

Matthew Boulus, MD

Dr. Boulus recently completed his internal medicine training at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He became a hospitalist in July with Duke University Hospital.

Mark Chandler, MD

Dr. Chandler trained in the combined medicine-pediatrics program at UNC Chapel Hill. Last year he served as the Pediatric Chief Resident. Dr. Chandler is now a general medicine hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

Jeremy Cypen, MD

Dr. Cypen just completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Duke and now joins our faculty as a hospitalist at the Durham VA.

Christine Emler, MD

Dr. Emler attended Duke University as an undergrad. In 2016 she completed a master's degree in health care management at Harvard. She joins our faculty this month as a hospitalist at the Durham VA.

Christopher Jensen, MD

Dr. Jensen completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in June and now joins hospital medicine at Duke University Hospital.

Sonya Patel-Nguyen, MD

Dr. Patel-Nguyen has come to Duke after her combined medicine and pediatrics residency at UNC Chapel Hill. She is now a hospitalist with Duke University Hospital.

Josh Smith, MD

Dr. Smith received internal medicine training at NY Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. The past two years he has been a pulmonary and critical care fellow at Duke. This year Dr. Smith joins the hospital medicine team at Duke University Hospital.

Johnathan Walter, MD

Dr. Walter recently completed medicine residency at the Washington University School of Medicine. He joins the hospitalist team at Duke University Hospital.

Myung Woo, MD

Dr. Woo completed residency in June at the Montefiore Medical Center in NYC. This month he becomes a hospitalist at Duke University Hospital and will also be a fellow in clinical informatics.
