From the Director
We had a great intern retreat on Friday! Many thanks to Ernest for dealing with all the planning details, to Dr. Cooney, Dr. Kristen Said, Dr. Joel Boggan and the chiefs for running the various sessions and to the JARs and SARs who covered so the interns could be there. Things are a little quieter this week, with the Wednesday ResCo Ponysaurus as our major event for the week. Don’t forget to sign up for the Stead Night at the Durham Bulls on Aug. 23, if you are able to join us! The Stead Leaders (Joel Boggan, Tony Gutierrez, Eileen Maziarz, Juliessa Pavon and Chris Hostler) are busy planning some more events, so check your email/look at SLACK to stay informed.
Kudos
Kudos this week go to Qasim (rhymes with Awesome) Husseini for an excellent chair’s conference, to Lauren Ranard for her great SAR talk on tachyarrhythmias with faculty mentor and former VA Chief Al Sun, to Cindy Pabon from Adrian Randall for her outstanding patient care (and fantastic physical exam skills!) on VA Gen Med, to Matt Carlisle from Lonnie Sullivan for being a perfect JAR role model on VA Gen Med, from Brittany Gatta to Tara Holder for helping cover on a busy VA Dayfloat! (“She was an awesome and selfless teammate”), to Dennis Narcisse from Allergy attending Dr. Moira Breslin, “Dr. Narcisse was excellent, I really enjoyed working with him. He is such a star!”
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Claire Smith for her abstract accepted to the ASCO Quality Care Conference “National trends in end of life care for veterans with advanced cancer.”
Have a great week!
Aimee
