Internal Medicine Residency News, Sept. 23, 2019

From the Director

Thank you to everyone who helped us make the visit from the Stanford IM program a huge success! They were very impressed with our program, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate and learn from them this year. We also want to thank DUKE HOSPITAL MEDICINE for sponsoring our first “Thirsty Thursday with Attendings!” (clearly, a better name is needed).  The Division of Geriatrics is up next.

Get. Your. Flu. Shot.  ‘nuf said.

This week, we have Stead Trivia Night on Sept. 26! Come out to Bull City Cider Works at 7 p.m. on Thursday to help your Stead Society gain some points in the Stead Cup and also to have a great time (sponsored by the Orgain Society, although Warren and Martin societies are thus far in the lead).

Kudos
Kudos this week go to Kim Darlington for an amazing chair’s conference, to Alie Mara, Anmol Singh, JD Ike, and Katherine Hutchins for helping me when I was a pretend SAR this week (from Vinay Choksi), and to Rabab Ali for her excellent and thorough patient care at the VA this month, and to our call buddies Matt Harbrecht and Karina Massad. Also to our day float SARs Chris Ferreri and Josh Lee, and to ACR Dennis Narcisse for providing us with late night coffee and support from Ahmad Mourad. And kudos to Neha Kayastha for her presentation at Medicine Grand Rounds!

PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to alumnus Rachel Feder for her book chapter in Netter’s Integrated Review of Medicine, edited by (Duke Med Alum) Bryan Leppert and Christopher Kelly!

Have a great week!
Aimee
