Lantos named a Chair for Duke IRB

Paul Lantos, MD, has been named this month as a Chair for the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board (DUHS IRB); he joins a team of 13 total chairs.

As a DUHS IRB Chair, he will have the authority to review, approve, and require modification of all submissions to the DUHS IRB that satisfy the requirements for expedited review.

Dr. Lantos is an Associate Professor in both Medicine and Pediatrics. His primary interests include the spatial epidemiology of infectious diseases and his research utilizes geographic information systems (GIS) and geostatistical analyses to understand the spatial and spatiotemporal distribution of diseases, and their relationship with environmental and demographic factors. Several of his publications have made major contributions to both the epidemiology of Lyme disease and the clinical implications of epidemiologic uncertainty.

His clinical duties include attending on the inpatient Hospital Medicine service at Duke Hospital, where he serves on both the resident teaching service and on the non-teaching hospitalist services.
