Keynote Address in Ireland
Earlier this month, Associate Professor of Medicine, Paul Lantos, MD, delivered the keynote address "The Diagnosis and Management of Lyme Disease" at the Infectious Disease Society of Ireland's (IDSI) 11th Annual Scientific Meeting on May 11th. This conference, held in Galway, Ireland this year, represents physicians, scientists and other health care professionals who specialize in infectious diseases.
Duke One Health Training Program
Lantos also recently taught a seminar on geographic information systems (GIS) “Advanced GIS Modeling” for the Duke One Health Training Program on May 22.
One Health is the intersection of human and veterinary medicine with related fields and sciences, from agriculture to environmental health to entomology. This annual program trains scientists and clinicians from around the world in techniques for One Health research.
His Research
Lantos' main research interest is spatial epidemiology of infectious diseases. His research utilizes geographic information systems (GIS) and geostatistical analyses to understand the spatial and spatiotemporal distribution of diseases, and their relationship with environmental and demographic factors.
