Alyssa Zamora, communications specialist for Duke Global Health Institute, shared this blog post about her recent trip to Eldoret, Kenya, and surrounding communities to learn about the work there of Duke faculty, students and partners.
During the visit, Mary Klotman, MD, along with the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Health and many others from Duke, the Kenyan government and the public celebrated the opening of a new 10-bed cardiac care unit at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where several Duke faculty and cardiologists work, including Eric Velazquez, MD, Gerald Bloomfield, MD, and John Lawrence, MD.
