The Duke Department of Medicine Faculty Development Academy launched in October 2011 and addresses individual faculty development needs, supplements on-going mentorship, and develops faculty in high priority career tracks.
Members of the Academy join one of four branches:

Branch Chair: Bruce Peyser, MD
Professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine), Dr. Bruce Peyser, has been selected as Chair of the new Clinician-Teacher Branch. There are also a number of extremely qualified and experienced clinicians who will help mentor and guide some of the newer and younger clinician educators in the department.
“This is an incredible opportunity that the department has created, and I wish that I could have joined an academy such as this one years ago” says Peyser.
Dr. Peyser is a distinguished Clinician Educator who is a national and international leader in medical education and clinical care. Since joining the Department of Medicine at Duke in 2005, Dr. Peyser has served as a leader within a number of important medical education initiatives for medical students and residents which are well-aligned with his clinical and academic interests.
