Poon elected to ACMI fellowship

Duke Health's Chief Health Information Officer and DGIM Professor of Medicine, Dr. Eric Poon, has been newly elected as a Fellow in the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI). This year the college elected 17 fellows who will be inducted at the AMIA 2017 Annual Symposium on November 5, 2017. ACMI is the honorific society recognizing significant and sustained contributions to the field of biomedical informatics.

Dr. Poon executed the initial work demonstrating the safety impact of bar-coding at the point of care, which is now nationally adopted.  He has done key work on test result management, facilitators and costs of HIT implementation and unintended consequences of HIT.

Congratulations, Dr. Poon!
