Rogers appointed Chief Medical Officer for Duke University Health System

Joseph Rogers, MDJoseph Rogers, MD, professor of medicine (Cardiology), has been appointed to the position of Chief Medical Officer for Duke University Health System. Dr. Rogers will assume his new role effective October 1, 2018.

Dr. Rogers, a nationally recognized thought leader in heart failure and heart transplantation, has served in many important physician leadership roles within DUHS, the Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC), and the School of Medicine.

Most recently, Dr. Rogers served for one year, ending in July, as interim chair of the Department of Medicine. He has also served the organization as the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Strategic Growth and Implementation for the PDC, a member of the PDC board of managers, and the board of managers for Duke Connected Care.   

"Dr. Rogers is uniquely qualified to lead our medical/clinical priorities moving forward, particularly the transition to value-based care," wrote Dr. William J. Fulkerson, executive vice president of DUHS, in an announcement about the appointment.
