Poonam Sharma, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine in GIM, is the newest recipient of the "Rising Star" Interprofessional Excellence Award, a recognition as an individual demonstrating excellence in interprofessional education. Sharma was honored with this award September 21, 2018, during the annual Health Professions Education Day sponsored by Duke AHEAD.
Amongst the accolades we heard "Dr. Sharma has consistently shown enthusiasm and commitment to inclusion of all disciplines of students on the teaching service (medical, physician assistant and pharmacy). She seeks their participation during rounds and includes all disciplines in clinical teaching opportunities during rounds."
