Ward appointed director of Duke Clinical Leadership Program

Cary Ward, MD, associate professor of medicine (Cardiology), has been appointed as the new Director of the Duke Clinical Leadership Program (DCLP) in the School of Medicine.

Dr. Ward will serve as the faculty leader for DCLP, helping to guide and shape its curriculum, format and delivery. She will partner with Sharon Hull, MD, professor of community and family medicine and Curriculum Advisor and Executive Coach for DCLP, to ensure delivery of an outstanding leadership development experience for DCLP fellows. Dr. Ward assumes a role that has been very capably held by Debara Tucci, MD, professor of surgery, who stepped down from the DCLP leadership role this summer to pursue other faculty development projects.

Ward brings to this role a wide range of experience within the Duke Health environment. She previously served as the Maestro Care Physician Champion for the Division of Cardiology and is currently the program director for the Adult Congenital Cardiology Fellowship as well as the associate vice chair for Quality Improvement and Credentialing in the Department of Medicine. She is a graduate of the School of Medicine’s ALICE leadership program and has a strong commitment to leadership development, professional development, and the resilience and well-being of faculty at Duke.
