Reflections on the Duke Program

What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
Duke offers a great collaborative environment for learning and research. It extends from students to colleagues to the administration and makes everything from setting up research to scheduling clinical work run very smoothly.

What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
Faculty love working with house staff and for the most part compete to get the privilege to work on teaching teams. This means most attendings on teaching teams are the best of the best when it comes to serving as role models and teaching.

About Duke University and Durham

What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Durham has great weather and a low cost of living. If you love the outdoors, Durham has a lot of opportunities over the weekend to enjoy things you might not find in the largest cities. The beach and mountains are close enough.

Where did you choose to live and why?
I am building a house in Southeast Durham because I anticipate staying here long term.

What are your interests outside of medicine?
I enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and cooking.
