Fellow Perspective
Why did you choose to train at Duke?
I chose Duke because of the institution's commitment to excellence. The division sets high standards for patient care, empathy, and professionalism. I am constantly inspired by my colleagues, attendings, trainees, and hospital employees who do extraordinary things for our patients.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The best thing about the program is the responsibility given to our fellows. Last year, as the night fellow in the ICU, I took calls from attending intensivists from Florida to Indiana who were struggling with their COVID patients. It was humbling to even be asked for help and it demonstrates how well we represent the division as well as the leadership role our division has taken during the pandemic.
