Start Year: 2023
Fellowship Track: Research
Graduation Year: 2026
Originally from: Dallas, TX (but did all of my schooling in Providence, RI)
Education and Training:
- Undergraduate: Brown University
- Medical School: Alpert Medical School at Brown University
- Residency: Duke
Reasons I chose Duke:
- The Duke Endocrinology fellows I spoke with during my interview day were very enthusiastic about the program and the training environment. They spoke highly of their attendings and Dr. Crowley, the Program Director. Even as a new fellow, I already can tell you that I feel very supported and welcome.
- I am a research fellow, and Duke has a great infrastructure for clinician-researchers. We have great role models of attendings who have crafted a career in both clinical and research spaces, including Dr. Crowley, Dr. Batch, Dr. Spratt, and many others.
- There is a large emphasis on fellow learning. The structured learning is high yield, concise, and well presented. And fellow education is not compromised by patient volume.
- When we rotate on the Duke inpatient consult service, a lot of the straightforward consults are handled by our APP service, allowing fellows to concentrate on the more complex patients and learning cases.
Happy surprises:
- My husband, daughter, and I love living in Durham. It's green, has great weather, is not too far from the mountains and ocean, and has a liberal and progressive socio-political atmosphere.
- The fellowship program is very supportive of trainees starting families and having children during fellowship!
