Education and Training

  • Undergraduate: Brown University
  • Medical School: Alpert Medical School at Brown University
  • Residency: Duke

Reasons I chose Duke

  • The Duke Endocrinology fellows I spoke with during my interview day were very enthusiastic about the program and the training environment. They spoke highly of their attendings and Dr. Crowley, the Program Director. Even as a new fellow, I already can tell you that I feel very supported and welcome.
  • I am a research fellow, and Duke has a great infrastructure for clinician-researchers. We have great role models of attendings who have crafted a career in both clinical and research spaces, including Dr. Crowley, Dr. Batch, Dr. Spratt, and many others.
  • There is a large emphasis on fellow learning. The structured learning is high yield, concise, and well presented. And fellow education is not compromised by patient volume.
  • When we rotate on the Duke inpatient consult service, a lot of the straightforward consults are handled by our APP service, allowing fellows to concentrate on the more complex patients and learning cases.

Happy surprises

  • My husband, daughter, and I love living in Durham. It's green, has great weather, is not too far from the mountains and ocean, and has a liberal and progressive socio-political atmosphere.
  • The fellowship program is very supportive of trainees starting families and having children during fellowship!
