My goal is to be a Cardiologist with a primary focus on clinical care while also being involved in medical innovation, medical education, and global health.

Reflections on the Duke Program
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program with a top-notch reputation for training well-rounded doctors that also places an emphasis on community and wellness. Additionally, I wanted a program to expose me to all the subspecialties of IM early in training, and the Duke program does a great job of that.
What are the strengths of the Duke Program?
The leadership of the program truly cares that we are having a great experience, and have created a supportive culture that is evident throughout the faculty we work with. The opportunities for mentorship, research, and following your passions within medicine are endless. And you get to do it around tremendous people - I've noticed that Duke has a way of attracting smart, kind, and fun people to be around.
What are your observations about the relationships between faculty and house staff?
Very friendly, with an appropriate balance of autonomy and support while also always looking for teaching opportunities.
Tell us about your co-residents. What has helped you connect, support each other, and form friendships?
They are awesome! We've had an active GroupMe since the week we matched and it has been an honor getting to know these highly accomplished doctors through the many social events we've already had and will continue to have.
What has surprised you most about Duke?
Since we interviewed virtually, I did not have an appreciation for how much of the hospital has been built within the past few years. It's state-of-the-art and has some spectacular views!
About Duke University and Durham
What is the best thing about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I would have to say it's the food. As someone who eats out for most meals, I've honestly yet to have a meal that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Also, I love the vibe of having 3 cities all spaced apart just enough to where it still feels like a huge city with all the amenities one could want, but without the traffic.
How does the Triangle appeal to people of diverse backgrounds?
There are people from all walks of life here! Southern hospitality is real - the people here are incredibly kind.
Where did you choose to live and why?
I chose to live in an apartment complex in Downtown Durham. It's walkable to many of the cool spots around here and also just a 5 minute drive from the hospital.
What advice would you give to someone looking to move to Durham?
Visit in-person to scope it out for yourself! And reach out to people who have found what you are looking for. The program does a great job of putting together a document of where people live and their contacts - this is very useful.
What are your interests outside of medicine?
Sports, music/concert-going, traveling, trivia, trying new restaurants, social media, philosophy, spending time with family & friends
