Dr. Leonor Corsino Appointed to Endocrine Society Board of Directors

Leonor Corsino, MD, MHS, associate professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition at the Duke Department of Medicine (DOM), has been named to the board of directors of the Endocrine Society. Her appointment will officially begin in July 2025 following the Society’s annual meeting, ENDO. This recognition marks a significant milestone in Dr. Corsino’s career and underscores her leadership in the field of endocrinology.

Dr. Corsino’s appointment to the board reflects her dedication to advancing health through research, education, and compassionate care. A board-certified adult endocrinologist and experienced physician-scientist with over 71 peer-reviewed publications, a book, and several books’ chapters, she has led numerous initiatives aimed at improving patient care, addressing health disparities, and strengthening workforce development in healthcare. Her research focuses on diabetes, obesity, and related complications, with a particular emphasis on Hispanic/Latino populations. She has successfully collaborated with investigators locally, nationally, and internationally.

In addition to her academic and clinical roles at Duke, Dr. Corsino serves as associate dean for student affairs at the Duke School of Medicine and associate director of the Duke Master of Biomedical Sciences program. She has also played a pivotal role in designing and implementing innovative programs such as the REACH Equity Summer Undergraduate Research Program and the Duke Population Health Mapping Project. Her leadership has had a tangible impact on patient outcomes, population health, and the recruitment and development of a diverse healthcare workforce. Dr. Corsino’s leadership has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Department of Medicine Rising Administrative Star and the Duke University President Award.
