New SciENcv biosketches required for NIH proposals - Instructions

The NIH Common Forms are now available. The use of this system for both the Biosketch and Other Support documents will be required for all submissions starting with the January 25, 2026, deadline (exceptions are center grants and training grants). Failure to use the NIH Common Forms will cause your proposal to be withdrawn. There will be a number of workflow changes associated with this transition that will be communicated further once they are finalized.

For the time being, please do the following:

  1. Log in to SciENcvInstructions starting on page 11 of attached slides or Word document
  2. Link your ORCID to your eRA Commons profile —make sure your accounts are connected. Instructions on page 15 of the attached slides
  3. Create Biosketch:
    1. Click “+ New Document”, and select the NIH Biographical Sketch Common Form. You can import data from either eRA Commons or ORCID, from a previous biosketch in SciENcv, or start from scratch manually. Instructions start on page 16 of the attached slides; however, please choose NIH instead of NSF.
  4. Do you need help?
    1. Visit Medical Center Library’s Biosketch Libguide (The Medical Center Library is very familiar with SciENcv and is available for one-on-one meetings to help navigate and create a biosketch in this new form.)
    2. Email medical-librarian@duke.edu
    3. NIH information

Information will be forthcoming on how Other Support will be handled; however, go ahead and set up delegation and work on transitioning your biosketch if you have not done so already.
