Volunteer at Lincoln Community Health Center, Work with Residents

Interested in working with residents at Lincoln, Duke’s Federally Qualified Health Center?

There is a volunteer clinic on Wednesday evenings, where PGY2 and PGY3 internal medicine residents see patients. It’s a great chance to work with residents and give back to the Durham community by helping provide after-hours urgent and primary care.

The clinic is supported by Lincoln’s nursing, pharmacy, and laboratory staff, so patients without insurance are able to access testing and treatment.

The commitment is an in-person shift on Wednesday evenings, from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., depending on patient census. There is no required frequency. Some attendings precept on a monthly basis, whereas others work one or two sessions a year.

Current volunteers include endocrinologists, cardiologists, ID docs, and generalists. Fellows are welcome (and encouraged!) to volunteer as well.
